Charlie "Finnigan" Wiseman

8.16.2011

Though we only had Charlie for 8 months, she was definitely part of our family. Our little girl. We knew she was old and not in the greatest health when we took her in, but I don't think it ever registered how old she was since she looked like a little puppy, as all maltese's tend to look.

Back in January we found out that Charlie had a heart murmur. For most dogs, heart murmur's aren't a big deal and they can live long healthy lives without ever needing treatment. Over the past few days, Charlie had been weezing followed by a gag, breathing hard and not eating her food. She just wasn't herself. I had an appointment scheduled for her today, but sadly she didn't make it through last night. Her breathing was very rapid and her heart rate was insane. I laid her down in the bed with me to calm her heart down, but it didn't seem to work. She was at the bottom of the bed when she got up to walk to my pillow and stumbled all over the mattress. She then laid down on her side. She laid like that a couple minutes then started to spit up blood. I got Josh and we headed to the vet, but she didn't make it...she died in my arms. My little baby Charlie died in my arms....

She's with her brother and sister now, Butters and Miki and I'm sure they're all having a good time eating treats and running around freely. But I miss them all. I will always miss them. I love you Butters. I love you Miki. I love you Charlie. Be good, stay out of trouble, and know that your mamma loves you.

Oh Ally! She is just beautiful, I have always wanted a Maltese because they are so loyal to their owners, they are calm, loveable, cuddly and just have such sweet dispositions! We have our Meiko (Shih-Tzu) who was supposed to fit that description but he would rather be on his own than cuddling with us. I feel so badly that you have had these three losses, I know dogs are just like a child and are a true member of the family. I hope you will be able to eventually have an space ready for another dog(s) without fearing for their health and longevity. I know it is hard because you don't want to replace them, but there is always room for the love of a furry friend...I am sure you agree :) Again, I am so sorry for your loss!!! Thinking of your three little fur babies and hoping they are all having fun being together again!
