Grandpa & The Best Ice Cream Ever

3.09.2011

Two years ago today, my grandpa (Ohashi) passed away. Although we were not as close as I wanted to be, much in part due to the fact that we lived thousands of miles away from each other almost my whole life, I do still miss him. Because you see, I used to be grandpa's little girl when I was a pre-todd. He would carry me everywhere and make me leis with orchids from his garden where me and my brother would play. And I remember grandpa and I would always share a papaya for breakfast. But when I was little, the best part about hanging out with grandpa was when he would take us to get Guri Guri ice cream. It's the best ice cream in the world and only sold on the little island of Maui. I'm looking forward to visiting his grave and placing a lei made of orchids on his head stone in about a month...and of course eating some Guri Guri ice cream in his honor. I love you grandpa.

This is the last photo I took with him...a little less than a year before he passed away.

And this is the "Ohashi" family at his funeral service. We love you and miss you grandpa.
